When you make a reservation request to an owner on Roomlala, you go to a payment page of the reservation. This step allows Roomlala to pre-authorise the full amount of the reservation on your bank account for if the owner accepts your request.
What happens if the landlord accepts my reservation request?
If your reservation is accepted, the pre-authorisation will be converted into a debit and the amount will be deducted from your bank account.
What happens if the landlord refuses my booking request or does not answer?
If however, the landlord refuses your booking request or indeed does not respond to you within 48 hours of your request, the pre-authorisation will be lifted and we will not charge your bank account.
If I have not been charged, why is a debit displayed on my bank account?
When you provide Roomlala with a pre-authorisation, the amount is "blocked" in your bank account for a certain period of time, which depends entirely on your bank. The delay is usually 7 working days but may be up to 30 days according to some banks.
Some banks post it on your account as an actual debit, although it is not, which often causes confusion for our users.
Therefore, there is no refund is to be made by Roomlala. The amount of the reservation is still in your account, but it is simply made temporarily unavailable by your bank. However, be aware that the amount will be made available again as soon as the bank's time has passed. The pre-authorisation will then disappear from your bank account or it will appear as a refund.
We hope to have answered your questions and that you will understand that we unfortunately do not have control over the functioning of banking institutions.
